Ideas Start Around the Family Table

Making Things begins with family conversations. Someone says “wouldn’t it be great if there was an app for that?” and we talk it through, laugh about it, and pick the ideas worth making. Then we bring them to life.

The ideas come from all of us:

• Grandmom, my mom, who always knows what would actually help.
• My brother, father of the girls, who sees what works for a busy family.
• The girls, my two nieces, who are our most honest critics and best testers.
• Me, with the random ideas that show up at the most unexpected moments.

No Fancy Studio

There is no big office and no fancy studio. Making Things is a single person building every app, usually from a table in a coffee shop with a laptop and a warm cup nearby. Every screen, every line of code and every detail gets the same personal attention.

Every decision starts with a simple question: would we put this in front of the girls?

That question keeps us honest.

Free and Paid Apps

Some of our apps are free and some are paid. Either way, we never sell your data, in any app. In some apps for adults we may use analytics, only to understand what to improve. We never do that in apps for children.

Child Safety Is Our Priority

Children deserve better than what most of the App Store offers them. When we build software for children, we hold ourselves to a higher standard:

• Safe by design. No social features, no chatting with strangers, no ads, and no links out to the open web.
• Educational. Learning through play, at a child’s own pace, praising effort over perfection.
• On device. A child’s work stays on the device in your hands, and our apps keep working offline.
• Privacy first. No analytics and no tracking. A child’s privacy and safety always come before growth.

We comply with COPPA and Apple’s guidelines for kids, but compliance is our floor, not our ceiling.

AI, Used Responsibly

We believe artificial intelligence is at its best when it quietly helps and never gets in the way. We aim to use it responsibly:

• We use AI only where it makes an app genuinely better, never as a gimmick.
• Wherever possible, AI runs on your device, so personal information does not need to leave it.
• We do not use your family’s data, and especially not your child’s, to train AI models.
• Grown ups stay in control, and AI features are designed to be clear, predictable and age appropriate.

We build the apps our own family wishes existed, and we think yours will love them too.
