Wobbly Privacy Policy

The short version: Wobbly collects nothing. Wobbly is designed for young children, so we hold ourselves to the strictest possible standard. The app has no server, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. Everything your child creates stays on your device.
1. What information the app stores, and where
Wobbly stores the following only on your device, using Apple's on-device storage (it is never transmitted to us or anyone else):

Profiles never include real-world identifiers: no email address, no birthdate, no photos, no contacts, no location. “Recordings” are replays of pen strokes; they contain no audio, video, or camera data.
2. The microphone and Speaking practice
Wobbly's optional Speaking practice lets a child say a sound, word, or sentence and hear what they got right. It only exists if a parent grants the microphone and speech recognition permissions during setup (or later, in the Parent Zone). When it is used, the audio is analyzed on the device using Apple's on-device speech recognition; the app requires on-device recognition and will not fall back to a server. The audio is not stored, not added to any recording, and never transmitted to us or anyone else. Denying or revoking the permission simply hides the speaking buttons.
3. What we collect from you or your child
Nothing. We do not collect, receive, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, from children or adults. The app's App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected.” The app makes no network connections of its own, with the Apple-run exceptions listed in section 4 below.
4. The only things that ever leave the device (all of them Apple's, none of them ours)
- Purchases. If a parent buys the one-time Full Access unlock, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple's App Store (StoreKit). We never see your name, payment details, or Apple ID. Apple's handling is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- iCloud backup (off by default). A parent may turn on iCloud backup of their own child's progress. The data goes to your family's own iCloud storage under your Apple ID and Apple's terms. We operate no servers and cannot access it.
- The free trial's start and end dates. Two timestamps, stored in your device keychain, so the 7-day trial follows your Apple Account instead of resetting on every reinstall. If you use iCloud Keychain, Apple syncs them across your own devices, exactly as it does your passwords. They are two dates and nothing else: no name, no identifier, and nothing about your child. We never see them, and the app performs no networking to check them. Your grown-up PIN is deliberately not synced and never leaves the device it was set on.
5. Children's privacy (COPPA notice)
Wobbly is made for children under 13 and complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), by design rather than by paperwork:
- We do not collect, store, or transmit personal information from children. There is nothing to consent to, opt out of, or request a copy of, because no data ever reaches us.
- All learning data stays on your device. There is no server, no account, and no cloud processing.
- We never show advertising to children, and the app contains no third-party advertising or analytics code at all.
- Everything beyond the child's practice area (settings, reports, purchases, profile management) sits behind a parent gate (Face ID/Touch ID or a grown-up PIN).
- The consent checkbox during setup confirms that a parent or guardian allows practice data to be stored locally on the device. Declining stores nothing.
Because no personal information is collected online, COPPA's verifiable parental consent requirements for online collection do not apply. We still ask for a parent's explicit agreement during setup, because that's the right thing to do.
6. Deleting data
You are in full control:
- Deleting a child's profile (Parent Zone, then that child, then Delete Profile) permanently removes all of that child's data from the device. This requires the parent gate plus a double confirmation.
- Deleting the app removes all app data from the device.
- If you enabled iCloud backup, you can delete that copy from your own iCloud storage in iOS Settings.
We cannot delete your data for you, because we never had it.
7. This website
This website is static. It sets no cookies, embeds no third-party content, and keeps no visitor logs of its own. The home page runs one small script that checks the address you arrived by for a friend's invite code so it can show you the matching App Store discount; it stores nothing and sends nothing. (Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs, such as IP addresses, for security; we do not use them to identify anyone.)
8. Your regional rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and similar)
Privacy laws around the world grant rights to access, correct, delete, and port personal data, and to object to its processing or sale. Because Wobbly collects no personal data, there is no data held by us to exercise these rights against, and the answer to every access request is an empty set. We do not sell personal information and never have.
9. Changes to this policy
If a future version of Wobbly ever changes what data is handled (for example, a new opt-in feature), we will update this policy, change the effective date above, and describe the change in the App Store release notes before it ships. The app will never begin collecting data silently.
