Why does Wobbly ask for Face ID or my PIN every time it opens?
Because the app has not been bought yet. Until Full Access is purchased, every launch is opened by a grown-up: Wobbly shows a sleeping mascot and asks for Face ID, Touch ID, or your PIN, then hands the device straight to your child. It is deliberate. The app is for children too young to be handed a device unnoticed, and it is also the only place we can talk to you about buying without a child ever seeing a price. Once you buy Full Access the lock disappears for good, and the app opens straight onto your child's home screen.
After I unlock, I sometimes see the purchase screen. Can I skip it?
Yes, always, with the large “No thank you” button, and your child never sees it: it can only appear behind the gate you just passed. It shows only once the 7-day trial has finished and only until you buy. There is no timer, no countdown, and nothing that has to be dismissed twice.
What is free, and what needs Full Access?
Free forever: letters A–E and numbers 0–3 in both cases with the whole tracing experience, the first 20 reading words and the sentences that close the first level, the first treasure chest of each of the first two reading levels, all seven listening games, every letter's sound and picture words, up to three children, the grown-up zone with a weekly report card, and the last three stroke recordings and worksheets per letter. Full Access adds the rest of the letters and numbers, all 9 reading levels, the 13 storybooks, unlimited children, unlimited recordings with no watermark, and longer report windows. The home page lists both sides side by side.
I forgot my grown-up PIN.
On the PIN screen, tap “Forgot PIN?” and verify with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. You'll then choose a new PIN. (If your device has no passcode at all, the PIN can't be recovered. That's a deliberate security choice; you'd need to reinstall the app, which erases its data.)
Is there a subscription?
No. Full Access is a single one-time purchase for your whole family. There's nothing to cancel and you'll never be billed again. The free letters and numbers keep working forever, too.
What happens when the 7-day trial ends?
Nothing bad. The trial needs no card and cannot bill you. After seven days the app quietly returns to the free tier, and everything free keeps working forever. Your child's stars and progress are all kept, and anything premium reappears exactly where they left it if you later unlock Full Access.
Does Wobbly record my child's voice?
No. If you allow the microphone for Speaking practice, Wobbly listens to your child say a sound or word and scores it entirely on the device, using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio is never stored and never leaves the device. If you decline the permission, the speaking buttons simply never appear, and you can change your mind any time in the Parent Zone under Speaking practice.
I bought Full Access on one device. How do I unlock another?
Make sure the other device uses the same Apple ID (or is in your Family Sharing group), then in the Parent Zone tap Restore Purchases.
Does Wobbly work offline?
Completely. The app never needs a connection except at the moment of a purchase or restore.
Where is my child's data stored?
Only on your device. No account, no server, no analytics. See the Privacy Policy; the App Store label is “Data Not Collected.”
How do I delete a child's data?
In the Parent Zone, open the child's profile and tap Delete Profile. This permanently removes everything for that child and can't be undone. Deleting the app removes everything for all profiles.
The stroke order is different from my child's school.
Wobbly follows common U.S. print (manuscript) letter formation. If your child's school teaches a different sequence, follow the school. We're considering alternate stroke styles, so tell us which curriculum you need.
Tracing feels too strict, or too easy.
In the Parent Zone, open your child's Practice Settings. You can adjust the forgiveness (tolerance), the pass threshold, guide colors and opacity, and haptic strength, all per child.
Accessibility
Wobbly supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, adjustable haptics (including off), and high-contrast guides. If any part of the app doesn't work well with your assistive technology, email us. Accessibility reports go to the top of the queue.
